Chessgrove Spa and Fews Marquees!

1 May

If you’re a frequent reader of the I Love Events London blog you’ll have seen that I covered the recent International CONFEX 2012 Exhibition at Excel (the exhibition for events professionals to see new event innovations, meet new suppliers and venues). Here, my friend Allyson (a fellow Event Producer) were introduced to Fews Marquees; we both entered a competition to win a day at their partner spa, but little did I know that I would be the winner J

Naturally I took my friend Allyson along with me, and boy were we in for a treat. Chessgrove Spa in Hanbury (in the heart of the Midlands countryside) was a sight for us sore eyed Londoners. It took us 2 hours to drive up from London and was one of the most amazing days I’ve had in a very long time. We were treated to lunch, use of all the spa facilities and a 30 min massage! All included in my prize!!

Chessgrove Spa is a renovated family farm that has been in Ian Few’s family for years. As soon as we arrived we were warmly welcomed and met by Ian’s colleague Jules for a herbal tea and a chat then we were shown around the glorious spa! The Chessgrove Spa treatment floor has 6 individual treatment rooms and an exclusive double treatment suite. The thermal suite is again fantastic, boasting an aroma steam and sauna, and an experience shower offering a combination of monsoon, mist and invigorating ice (I was a bit scared of it but it was so cool!). They have a vitality hydro pool, an outdoor cascade spa (where we lazed about drinking Prosecco for a while) and a 12 metre indoor pool, complete with resistance jets and waterfalls with plenty of comfy seating areas (where I partook in a lovely little nap!). The Bistro with fully licensed bar offered a lovely friendly atmosphere and all the staff were so helpful and nice! All the food we had was outstanding and we especially liked the homemade carrot cake!

Chessgrove would be a great haven for hen parties, birthday parties, girlie days out or even incentives. There’s loads of great membership opportunities available too, check out their website for more info here.

Ian even took the time out to come down to say hello and talk to us about his recent antics with Fews Marquees. Based over the road from the spa, Fews provide an array of exquisite marquees for various different occasions, weddings, corporate, parties and also hire out other equipment like bars, mobile toilets, dance floors, cushion covers – the whole lot. They’ve also got a brand new premium range of marquees available too at the moment that are just second to none luxury. These are available in various sizes (15-25 metre) and are an aluminium clearspan structure which is available with glass, solid or PVC sides. They have a stylish curved roof, contemporary flat-white linings, floor-to-eave glass & solid walls for an enhanced weather-protected and thermally-efficient environment. It also uses cassette deck flooring with non-slip phenolic wooden boards and has optional pillow-roofs to increase thermal properties and reduce noise pollution.

It was so nice to meet events professionals that were so passionate about what they do, and I’m so very grateful for my lovely prize! Will definitely be going back to Chessgrove soon, and highly recommend Few Marquees!!
