Vans Warped Tour comes to London!

16 May

Am very excited that the Vans Warped Tour is coming to the UK this year! For the first time since 1998 the tour will be travelling outside of the USA which is incredibly exciting! I’ve always wanted to go, and have often thought of travelling over to one of their sites in the USA to get the chance to not only see some of the best up and coming and established bands in the punk, ska, metal and hardcore music industry, but also to see some of the amazing extreme sports shows they hold.

The Vans Warped Tour began in 1994 started by a guy called Kevin Lyman who was experienced in running skateboarding events but wanted to combine them with live music. As well as live music shows on as many as 10 different stages, they bring attractions as well, including a half pipe for skaters and bikers, tents for each of the bands to sell merchandise, independent record labels, magazine publishers, non-profit organisations, and sponsors looking to market their products to the tour’s audience. Some of the bands often go to their merch tent after their shows and sign autographs and talk to their fans.

The Warped Tour has launched lots of famous bands into the circuit including Paramore and other bands like NOFX and Bad Religion play on a regular basis.

Each year they have a ‘BBQ Band’ play which, in exchange for the privilege of playing on the tour, must prepare food for the bands and crew for the barbecue! (Dropkick Murphys have been a BBQ band in the past!)

This November the Vans Warped Tour UK will be heading to Alexandra Palace, tickets are £40 at the moment – with bands like Less Than Jake, Lost Prophets and New Found Glory on the line up! Get your tickets immediately before they sell out!
