Benefit Mascarathon – the finish!

13 Jul

On Friday 29th June the Benefit Mascarathon came to an exciting finish at Spitalfields Market,  near Liverpool Street in Central London. I’ve been working on the Production team at iD Experiential on the event since I started there in May, and this was the final celebration of the long running Benefit Mascarathon!

We had two beautiful bright pink Benefit marquees, one as a VIP area and another as a serving area for our mini cupcakes (courteously of Crumbs Couture) and coke floats – as well as make overs from Benefit Cosmetics professionals! We had a huge stage where wicked DJ Blonde Ambition played in between sets from the fabulous King Candy and the Sugar Push (I’m a huge fan of the Puppini Sisters and Kate Mullins is the lead singer so you can imagine how excited I got!!) – along with swing dancing displays from Martin Ellis’ and his troup of swing dancers from Swingland! On top of this we had a brilliant vintage style Benefit Cosmetics branded photobooth, a branded chiller van (to keep the coke cool for the coke floats and to chill delicious Moet champagne we served in the VIP area!), lovely Benefit white picnic tables, bunting (and LOTS of it!!), our Benefit step and repeat photowall and our classic Benefit start/finish arch for the runners to burst through as they finished!

The last leg of the race was run by Lauren Laverne, and we were joined at the finish by the Benefit Mascarathon brand ambassador Caroline Flack as well. As the run was completed, we were reunited with the magnificent Benebago (our huge branded, bright pink Benefit Winnebago!) and it’s matching accessories the bright pink branded Vespas, which were placed outside the Benefit store close by.

The atmosphere down there was electric, the Benefit staff and celebrities really created a fantastic feeling at the event and lots of people gathered round over the course of the day to watch the dancers, have a coke float and grab a cupcake! The whole Mascarathon overall raised an amazing £71,000 – smashing their initial target of £50,000 for Refuge, a charity that supports victims of domestic violence. An amazing achievement, and one of the most enjoyable events I’ve ever had the pleasure of working on!
