Ghillie Dhu – stunning venue!

16 Jul

Have fallen in love with this venue in Edinburgh! Ghillie Dhu (which in Scottish folklore was a guardian spirit of the trees) is a stunning place in the heart of Edinburgh’s West End, an old Grade 1 listed church that’s recently had a outstandingly chic refurbishment.

As an event venue, it’s set across 3 levels, with a 1st floor auditorium incorporating an incredible vaulted ceiling and period architectural features and a sound and lighting system built-in. The basement houses their kitchen, the ground floor a traditional Scottish pub leading into the main room. After trawling the internet for reviews on the food, I cannot find a single negative comment – which of course is unusual for the internet!! The food is apparently tasty, well presented and very trendy.

This venue can take up to 350 as a reception, or black tie 140. It’s ideal for weddings and plenty of photo opportunities are scattered around its stunning features.

One of my favourite things about this venue is that the staff say there have been many ghosts seen in the space! Anyone who knows me well knows I LOVE the supernatural and I love the idea that a ghost could show up to one of my parties. 🙂

You could throw a VERY chic wedding or party here. The lighting really accentuates the decor in the space, mixed in with some candelabras and you’ve got yourself a beautiful looking room. Lovely stuff!!
