Rhythm Riot 2012

23 Nov

Another fantastic year at Rhythm Riot! Bands, cars, clothes, friends and dancing…. It really doesn’t get any better than that!

This year seemed a lot busier than last year, which is a great thing to see. Again held at Pontins Holiday Resort in Camber Sands, the cabins had a refurb so there was a noticeable improvement to the living spaces!

It’s a great atmosphere at Rhythm Riot. Everyone is there to have a fun weekend of socialising, drinking and watching bands so EVERYONE is in a good mood!

This year there were a few minor changes that made really nice touches! The TV’s in each apartment would show old 1940’s and 1950’s movies and commercials; which was fantastic for afternoon relaxation time! They had marvelous dressed up cigarette usherettes giving out branded Rhythm Riot sweets, AND the best change of all from last year…. They had a Pedal Car Expo, a selection of vintage pedal cars that were so incredibly sweet and lovely to see!!!

Bands such as The Cleftones, Si Cranstoun and The Five Keys graced the stage, and the vibe in the main hall each evening was electric. Watching the flocks of amazingly skilled swing dancers was hypnotizing, and the daytime shopping was incredible.

This festival is great for people that love 1940’s and 1950’s music, that love swing/jive dancing, that love old renovated vintage cars, that love having a weekend by the beach (even though it is November and pretty chilly!), but that want a mini get away in the winter. Lots to do, reasonably priced and a damn lot of fun!

Thanks to Christine Macaulay at The Big Mac Blog for being my partner in crime and for taking all the excellent photos. See you there next year!
